"Your home should tell the story of who you are and be full of things you love."

It’s important to put your stamp on your rental apartment to make it feel like home and your neutral apartment is the perfect blank canvas. It’s easier than you might think, here are our top tips:

Cushions and Throws

Cushions and throws are a great way to add some personality into your lounge and bedrooms. Think about the atmosphere you want to create and layer textures, colours and patterns. As the seasons change and new fashions arrive, you can easily update the look and feel of your apartment with just a few new pieces.

Plants

The most effective way to inject life into your home is with plants. Not only do they look beautiful, they improve the air quality which has been proven to improve your health and reduce fatigue and stress. Our favourites are Swiss cheese plants and Fiddle leaf fig plants (great names!) For the novices out there, if you’re worried about keeping them alive, start with a selection of super low maintenance, succulents like String of Pearls plants and Aloe Vera.

#shelfie

Forget selfies it’s all about shelfies, there are over 1.3 million #shelfie posts on Instagram! Dress your shelves with creative displays of your favourite things! Books always look beautiful, sentimental trinkets or candles, this is where you can really give your apartment your individual stamp. It’s can be nice to use some of the same colours items as your cushions to pull the look together. Asymmetric displays in odd numbers with different shapes and heights look best. Lean framed artwork and play with different combinations updating it when you feel like it!

Reshuffling

To give your apartment a totally free seasonal update, think about moving items such as cushion and throws from the bedroom to the lounge or doing an artwork re-hang. Take all of your photos and artwork down from the walls and think about different ways you can display them, for instance combining smaller pieces in a gallery display.

Give your furniture a makeover

If you’re fed up with a boring piece of furniture think about how you could give it a new lease of life. A chest of drawers or bedside table can be transformed with a lick of paint and new handles. A good quality armchair could be worth reupholstering in new fabric. The best thing about this is, you will end up with a totally unique piece of furniture.
