At Essential Living, community is at the heart of everything we do. Beyond beautifully designed apartments and first-class amenities, we’re committed to creating experiences that bring residents together.

This year has already been packed with activity – from cosy breakfasts and creative workshops to family fun and seasonal parties – and we’re only just getting started. Across our Islington apartments, Bethnal Green apartments, Greenwich apartments, and Maidenhead apartments, residents have connected over food, music, and shared moments.

Here’s a round-up of what’s happened so far in 2025, plus a look ahead at the exciting events still to come.

Resident Breakfasts

Fresh pastries, hot coffee and a warm start to the day made our breakfasts across Archway, Greenwich and Maidenhead a resident favourite. Held on Saturday mornings between February and June, each breakfast welcomed between 20 and 80 residents. Running from 9–11am, residents enjoyed a wide range of options, from freshly baked pastries to yoghurt bowls and bagels – the perfect way to start the weekend.

Quiz Nights

Our quiz nights brought out plenty of laughter, teamwork and a healthy dose of competition. Held in March and June, residents gathered over charcuterie boxes and drinks before diving into themed trivia rounds. With prizes ranging from £200 Amazon vouchers to bottles of champagne, every team came ready to win — and the atmosphere was buzzing until the very last question.

Spring Bouquet Workshops

Spring came into full bloom with our bouquet-making workshops, hosted in partnership with Bloomsbury Flowers. Across March, groups of 10 to 30 residents gathered for relaxed, hands-on sessions, learning how to create beautiful arrangements with seasonal stems. Each resident left with their own bouquet - and a new skill to brighten their home.

Easter Golden Egg Hunt

From 14–18 April, residents joined an Easter egg hunt with golden eggs hidden daily in our shared spaces. Clues guided the search, and each egg revealed a special prize — from wine and spa vouchers to Apple AirPods, Kindles, dinner experiences, and even tickets to a musical. With such exciting rewards, the week was filled with anticipation, fun, and plenty of happy winners.

Spring Parties

Music, drinks and rooftop views set the tone for a lively spring celebration across our homes. Held throughout May, the parties were catered by Fabulously Fed, who created a delicious Italian picnic-inspired canapé table for residents to enjoy. Attendance ranged from 30 to 160 people across the different sites, making each event a vibrant gathering that truly brought the community together.

Happy Hours

Every Thursday in July, our BTR communities came alive for Happy Hour. With our new resident brew - Golden Hour Hops - taking centre stage (alongside plenty of soft drinks), neighbours gathered to catch up, unwind, and turn an ordinary Thursday into something special.

Summer BBQ's

Sunshine, sizzling food, and great company made our August gatherings a true highlight of the summer. With Pink Diamond Catering serving up an unforgettable BBQ feast - complete with grilled favourites, veggie delights, and vegan options - residents gathered on the rooftops to share food, drinks, and conversation. It was the perfect recipe for a summer to remember.

Sourdough Workshops

Residents rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on sourdough masterclass, learning how to bake sourdough and focaccia from scratch. Guided step by step, they topped and baked their own focaccia, picked up expert tips on keeping a starter alive (and even making the most of leftovers), and tucked into plenty of freshly baked bread with extra tasty bites. Everyone left not just with new skills, but with their very own sourdough starter to keep the baking going at home.
